SURROUNDINGS
NATURE
La Sila Piccola (the “little” Sila): on the border of the National Sila park, the area contains original wild forest and suggestive landscapes, whereby one can admire the view of both the seas on each side of the Calabria region. The area covers dense forest populated by wildlife such as deer, lynx and in some restricted areas also bears. Many activities are offered here including excursions by foot, bicycle or horse (31 different itineraries), and also rafting and canoeing. www.parcosila.it

Valli Cupe: naturalistic area characterized by its ancient villages, waterfalls and streams of clear water, ideal for short trekking excursions in the wild nature of its canyons and mountain gorges. www.vallicupe.it

Valle del Crocchio: extends over central eastern Calabria, between the gulf of Squillace and the plateau of the Sila. The landscape varies between the typical Mediterranean beach and the pine forest of the Sila, passing through wide airy valleys, gorges and canyons, to typically Mediterranean forests of conifers, hills, mountains and plateaus. All this, amazingly lies in an area, where the maximum distance between the sea and the mountains is only 30kims, as the crow flies. www.vallecrocchio.it

Riserva Marina di Capo Rizzuto: The protected marine area of “Capo Rizzuto” is fascinating and enchanting as it hosts and mixes history and nature; it is found on the coast of Crotone, an ideal stretch of coast in which to dive, visit archaeological sites and enjoy boat excursions. www.riservamarinacaporizzuto.it
